does he delete his text messages that he sends to me? and if so why?

Why are you so concerned about what he does with his phone that’s his business and to be quite honest that is a turn off to guys. Your focus should be to not be needy, clingy and controlling and the question you are asking is a sign of that behaviour and if he picks up on it it will drive him away. Be appreciative of what you have, let him have his privacy and his space.
